I. COUNTY REGULATIONS
- In order to prevent accidents, no food or
drink shall be served in glass containers either from a
snack bar or from vending machines within the designated
pool area. No glass may be brought to the Club.
- No loud speakers or amplified sound equipment shall
be used on the premises except by specific SGSC Board
authorization for Club activities.
II. HEALTH RULES
- The governing rules of the State Board of
Health will prevail at all times.
- Infants, toddlers and children who are not potty
trained entering either pool must wear diapers designed
specifically for swimming.
- All persons using the pool are required to take a
shower before entering the pool. All oily preparations,
leg makeup and lotions must be removed in the shower with
soap before entering the pools.
- All hairpins, bobby pins, etc. must be removed before
entering the pools.
III. GENERAL RULES
- Each family member must register at the gate
office to gain admittance (County Reg. 5173 item 11).
- No person is allowed to swim unless a qualified
lifeguard is on duty. There shall be no swimming at night
without use of the pool lights.
- All children eight (8) years and under must be
accompanied by an adult. Children nine (9) years or older
but under twelve (12) years may use the pool
unaccompanied by an adult, only providing that they have
passed a satisfactory swimming test to an individual
authorized by the Swim Club.
- Parents, whether present or not, are responsible for
the conduct of their children at all times. Members shall
be responsible for seeing that all of their guests are
advised of all rules, regulations and pool
procedures.
- Fifteen minutes of every hour shall be reserved for
adult members and guests over eighteen (18) years of age.
All other persons must get completely out of the
pool.
- Use of the wading pool is restricted to children five
(5) years and younger. All children using the wading pool
must be accompanied and supervised by an adult or a
responsible member of the family sixteen (16) years of
age or older. Children in the wading pool are the
responsibility of the parent, not the lifeguard.
- Only accepted swimming attire (no cut-offs or jeans)
may be worn in the pool.
- Courtesy, politeness and good sportsmanship shall be
observed at all times. There shall be no shouting,
boisterous conduct, loud or profane language or other
practices that may be annoying to others.
- Smoking shall be allowed only in designated smoking
areas in the parking lot. All refuse shall be disposed of
in the containers provided.
- Petitions, subscriptions, papers, etc. shall not be
circulated on the Club premises; nor shall solicitation
of funds for any purpose be made except with Board
approval.
- No pets shall be allowed on the premises.
- Bicycles, skateboards, scooters, roller blades and
roller skates may not be ridden on the premises. If
ridden on the premises, such items will be confiscated by
the lifeguard.
- Food will be allowed in designated areas only. No
food is allowed within twelve (12) feet of either pool
(on deck).
- The Club shall not be responsible or liable for
injury or accident suffered by either members or their
guests due to negligence or carelessness by any person.
The Club is not responsible for the loss of or damage to
personal belongings.
- With adequate notice, the pool may be closed at the
discretion of the Board of Directors.
- Members delinquent in their payments will not be
allowed to use the pool or Club facilities.
IV. SPECIAL SAFETY REGULATIONS
- Diving Board: Only one person
is to be on the diving board at a time. There shall be no
unnecessary springing or double bouncing while on the
board, nor will jumping or diving off the sides of the
board be permitted. Swimmers are not allowed in the
diving impact area.
- Swimming Equipment: No potentially
hazardous swimming equipment shall be used in the pool,
including air mattresses, rubber tubes, etc. Use of
swimming equipment is limited to such items as swim fins,
goggles and masks, snorkels and similar equipment at the
discretion of the lifeguard. No Frisbees or hard balls of
any kind may be used in the pools. Use of the permitted
equipment must not interfere with the enjoyment of the
pool by other swimmers. No Club or Swim Team equipment
will be loaned for general use. Equipment use at off-hour
parties shall be governed by the Party Rules.
- Diving: No person shall dive in less
than five (5) feet of water.
- Equipment Area: Only Board Members and
Club Employees are allowed in the equipment (back room)
areas at the Club. No exceptions.
- >General Behavior: There shall be no
running on any deck area, no pushing or throwing of
persons into either pool, no tampering with pool or
Corporation equipment, and no rough or disorderly
conduct. Any violation of these safety regulations will
result in disciplinary action by the Board of Directors
as stated in item VI.
V. GUEST RULES
- No outside organizations will be allowed on
the premises at any time without specific approval of the
Board of Directors.
- All members must register their guests in a
prescribed ledger upon entry at the gate office.
- All guests must be accompanied by a member. Members
must remain at the pool with their guests. Guests of
members may be admitted by a guest card purchased by the
members. Guest cards may be purchased at the front gate
at the prevailing rate. The card will allow twenty-four
(24) admittances. These cards will be valid until used
up. There will be no refunds granted for any unused
portion of guest cards. The guest cards will be punched
by the Gate Attendant for each guest except for children
three (3) years of age and under. Members bringing a
guest and not using a guest card must pay the prevailing
"non-card" rate for each guest.
- The daily limit of guests per membership shall be six
(6) individuals. Excessive use of the guest privileges by
any member or non-member will be reviewed by the Board of
Directors and appropriate action taken. The Board of
Directors may establish additional guidelines concerning
excessive use of guest privileges.
- Any member desiring to bring more guests than the
daily limitation may do so providing that they have
verified preauthorization from the Pool Staff or a Board
member.
- Member children under twelve (12) years of age are
NOT permitted to bring guests. Children twelve (12)
through fifteen (15) years of age may bring a guest
twelve (12) years of age or older. Children sixteen (16)
years of age or more may bring guests of any age.
Children may bring no more than one (1) guest at a time
unless permission is granted by the Pool Staff. A parent
member is responsible for the conduct of his or her
junior guests.
- With the parent's written permission, a babysitter
sixteen (16) years of age or older may accompany the
member's children who are under twelve (12) years of age.
Babysitters using the pool will be charged the guest
fee.
- Members who have no children listed on their
membership cards may substitute up to three (3)
grandchildren under twenty-one (21) years of age not
living with them. These grandchildren may use the pool in
accordance with all rules and regulations governing use
by member's minor children. Adult family members not
living at the principle member's address will be admitted
in accordance with the rules for paying guests.
VI. AMENDMENT AND ENFORCEMENT OF RULES AND
REGULATIONS
- Copies of the "Rules and Regulations" shall
be posted at the pool premises.
- The Lifeguard has delegated authority to dismiss any
member or guest from the pool area for the balance of any
one day. For repeated violations, a three (3) day
suspension may be imposed. The Lifeguard has the power of
enforcement of the "Rules and Regulations" and is in
charge of pool discipline.
- The names of members or guests dismissed by the
Lifeguard along with the Rule(s) violated will be
recorded by the Lifeguard and that list reported daily to
the Lifeguard Supervisor and/or the Club Vice
President.
- Repeated and/or serious violations will be reported
to the Board of Directors by the Pool Staff and may be
reported by any member. Upon receipt of the complaint
report, the Board of Directors may at their discretion:
- Place the offending member on probation
for a period not to exceed thirty (30) days.
- Suspend the offending member for a period not to
exceed thirty (30) days.
- Expel the offending member formally according to
the procedure outlined in Article II, section 4, of
the By-Laws of the Southgate Swim Club, Inc.
- The "Rules and Regulations" may be amended by a
majority vote of the Board of Directors.
VII. THE GATE ATTENDANT (Informational)
- The Pool Staff shall work gate duty as
scheduled.
- Absolutely no children or unauthorized
persons shall be allowed in the pool office or snack
bar.
- The gate attendant will be responsible for the
following duties and others as required:
- Admit all members and guests in
accordance with the Club rules. All members and
guests must sign in on a daily sign-in
sheet.
- Check all non-guest names against membership
roster.
- Deny entry to those not qualified to enter.
- Account for money ($) in the gate cash box.
- Place phone call and charge prevailing rate for
all local calls other than Club business. Long
distance calls outside of Club business are not
allowed.
- Operate the Club Snack Bar according to posted
instructions. Lifeguards are directed to wait on
members signing-in before waiting on snack bar
customers.
